Urgent Help Needed! Being Laid Off

Feb2002Case

Registered Users (C)
Gentlemen,
I am facing a situation where I have to change job. I am being forced to join my current client. But I have a problem. I had applied for EAD renewal for my wife and me and AP renewal for my entire family ( son and daughter also). Everything was sent through my lawyer and in one package. It was mailed on 01/15/03.

I recieved receipt notice for AP for me and my wife. (RD 01/16/03)
I did not receive receipt notice for EADs and APs for my kids.

Is it usual or I should worry about it?
Now my old EAD expires 03/29/03. If I don't get my new EAD by then , Can I keep working or I have to take a break?

Please advise ASAP! Tomorrow Friday is my last day at my client as consultant and my joining the client depends on this EAD thing.
Thanks in advance!

Not usual. Each applicant has to receive a receipt letter. Call INS to find out about receipt notices
No, you need a valid EAD to continue working..

Thanks Jaxen for your advice. I called INS yesterday and am told that they received my EAD applications and these will be approved in 2-3 weeks. I got receipt numbers from IIO. I told IIO that I never received receipts, she verified the address which was correct. Now should I do anything else or it should be fine.

Feb2002Case,

I have a question for you - it appears that you are planning to use AC-21 after joining your client to continue ur 485 and get the GC..

If that is case, have u talked with any lawyer to evaluate whether the job descriptions (consulting versus industry) would be considered "similar" by INS while evaluating Ac-21?? I have heard different opinions on this and would like to know more..

Thanks in advance.
