Urgent Help, FP Notice Recd, But will be in India on Appt Date

My lawyer just called me to let me know that my FP notice was recd. But
unfortunately, I will be in India at INS appointment date. Can I
prepone or postpone the FP Date and if so how ? My lawyer suggested i directly go to INS office and talk to them ? Will it work ?
Any similar experiences ? Please help

You can go on any Wed nesday after appointment date.
But there is one final date ( i think 1 month from the date of
appointment) until then you can walk in on any wednesday.

Check your FP notice it has all the above information.

Dinesh, I actually did my FP 15 days ahead of the date mentioned on the notice. Also I did it in a different center than the one mentioned as I had moved from NJ to GA. It was perfectly fine.

Thanks for your reply. You have given me hope. I was worried
as I was coming after 4 weeks after the appointment date.
What documents did you carry with you ? Did you have to
convince them to per-pone the FPs ? I am going to INS Newark Center.
Any ideas regarding them ? Do I go in morning
or afternoon ?
