dear friends, i need guidance regarding a few matters. I became LPR in 1999. i came to US and applied for a reentry permit and went back to home country for studies. My reentry permit expired in 2001 and i came back and applied for another reentry permit and again went back. my second reentry permit expired in dec 2003. i didnt make any trip more than 6 months outside usa after that and ever since 2005 november i am in USA permanently for almost the last 3 years. So the situation is that i since the expiry of my last re entry permit, i have taken 5 trips outside usa, each less than 6 months all for purpose of study. after passing out in my home country i came here in 2005 and have been living here for last 35 months. technically i havent been out of usa for more than 6 months in any single trip and have been inside of usa for the more than half the time as well. i was told that after reentry permit expiry the naturalization process starts all over again. and that i can apply in 2008 for naturalization , provided i have stayed at least 30 months in the country and have not taken a trip outside usa for more than 6 months.
now i applied for NAT. and got fingerprint and finally IL. now somebody told that i should have waited for 5 years after expiry of reentry permit before applying for naturalization. according to this person my re entry permit expired in dec 2003 , so i should have applied after dec 2008. i applied in august 08 . i was under the impression that i can apply upto 6 months before dec 2008 and i applied 4 months before that.
do you think this might cause a denial?
any help will be appreciated.
thanks
