URGENT !! from H1 to L2 transfer

All,

Can anybody answer this question. Any help is appreciated.

1. I would like to add my spouse as a dependent on my L1 visa. She is currently on a H1 visa and would like to be transferred as an L2. How long would it take for this process normally ?

2. After the application has been made and I have the application receipt, can my spouse go ahead and submit her resignation? Or should she wait until the application is approved ?

1. File I539. several months
2. She has to wait till the approval since this is a change of status.

Was just browsing on the internet and I read few articles where it says...I dont have to wait until its approved. The date USCIS receives the appln is good enough proof that I had applied for change of status. Only problem with this if its declined for what ever reason then I may have to leave immediately.

Does this interpreation sound good to you.
