URGENT: Form I-131 Processing

Hello,

It has been almost 5 months since I first submitted the I-131 re-entry permit in June 2016. My status still says "fingerprint fee received"... It is currently being processed at the Nebraska Service Center.

2 weeks ago I sent them a letter to expedite the process and according to my tracking, they received it.

& then, 2 days ago I submitted a case inquiry online and have yet to receive a response. I plan on calling them today to see what is going on...

If none of these options work, my last option is to book an info pass apt. However, will they be able to help me out with my urgent need in time before I leave the country after thanksgiving?

What other options can I do to expedite this process since it seems to be taking longer than the supposed 3 months?

Any help is greatly appreciated and will help to ease my worry of getting stuck in another country. Thank you all!

I don't understand why you need the Re-entry Permit (if that is indeed what you applied for) so urgently. You don't need to have it when you leave the country. You can pick it up abroad or have it mailed to you.

The problem is that my green card was issued to me when I was only 3 years old, there is no expiration date since it was waived during that time in the 1980s. I wanted to at least have the re-entry permit in hand to avoid any issues at the airports since my photo is outdated....

Please help anyone! (btw, the USCIS rep I spoke to earlier this year said I did not need to re-new my green card & assured to me that a re-entry permit is sufficient for short traveling in the meantime).

A re-entry permit is mainly for re-entering after an absence of more than one year. It is completely unnecessary for short travel (unless you have no other passport or something like that). You should just renew your green card, and get an I-551 stamp for all green card needs (work, travel, etc.) in the meantime while the application is being processed.

You chose the less relevant of the two options. Anyway, I131 applications can take a long time. CIS is quite useless when it comes to them. Unless you need to travel for a long time, just wait for it.
