Urgent for Finger Prints

I live in NJ and I'm on EAD ( no H1B) with I-485 pending at NSC.

In Oct 2003 I got mailer from DMV as my Driver’s License was expiring in Dec 2003. The mailer included two options:
1) Renewal for four year period thru postal.
2) Goto nearest DMV regional center with six pointid based renewal.

I went to one of the regional center, Eatontown, NJ. Officer told me that I will get NJ DL with expirity same as EAD expire date and also told every time I have renewal with my EAD until GC is approved.
So, I chose postal renewal for four years period. I got renewal but it does not have my picture on NJ Driver License. Again I went to DMV to get photo on renewed DL.
They said same story what I explained above, I will get DL expirity based on EAD expirity.

Now, I got Finger Prints on may 2004 at Newark, NJ. If I show my old DL the one with photo and new DL without photo.

IS IT VALID?
WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Please give me your suggestions

Each state has its own laws, when it comes to torturing legal non-immigrants each state particularly DMV has its own expertise.

Having a picture Id is better than not having a piture ID.
Not having a picture is equivalent to a temp DL, not valid as ID. You need to show a secondary picture ID always.
Why take trouble, you might have to spend $10 or $20 each year thats it.
 
for fingerprint..., you can carry your EAD and show your passports. EAD card has your picture..., Since the transaction (FP) is within INS office, EAD will support your passports.
 
I am in the same situation. I usually show the old license with photo and a new license without photo, didn't see any issues during Flight check in, and other places. As long as License Number matches, then it's ok. But make sure you always carry both IDs.

During FP, get your passport too.

WOW its so different everywhere ...in wisconsin i went with the renewal letter which i receiced from DMV and there they didnt ask for anything and renewed my license till 2012.

I will carry old DL and New DL along with Passport and EAD for my FP.

Hi,

Just to clarify ppl's doubts. You just need to carry the FP notice letter (original) and ONE VALID PHOTO ID. Thats all. This photo ID could be your Drivers License or your passports. We all have passports, so carry the passport as the form of ID. All they want is to make sure it is the correct person that is being finger printed.

Show up with clean fingers and make a copy of the FP notice for your records. They keep the original.

It is a routine process with no surprises unless you held up a bank recently or have a part time job as a mafia hit man.
