URGENT !!! -- EAD question

Gurus Please help!!!

My wifes EAD is going to expire, she is on H4 Visa. She works for a local store, they want her to continue to work even though her work permit expires. The store is not ready to pay her cash or any other means, What are the consequences if she continues to work after the expiration of EAD.

Your suggestions are appreciated.
 
if the ead renewal may be approved any time, is it OK to take get pay vacation after ead expires, and resume to work when receive the approval of ead renewal? you know some company allow you to take vacation ahead.
 
Her employer should pay $5000 fine to INS if it wants to keep your wife working after her EAD expired.

If the company does not pay the fine to INS, and your wife still works for them after EAD expires, she might put her greencard application at risk if INS ever find this out.
