Urgent EAD and AP renewal question!!

I am WAC-01-293-XXXXX and my lawyer wants to apply for my EAD and AP renewal. She is charging around $1000 for that. Since I am not with my original sponsoring company, all this goes directly out of my pocket. All of know how hard would it be on my pocket given today\'s economy. I have several questions in this regard:
1. Am I legally allowed to apply for renewals myself?
2. Are these applications simple enough so that I can do them myself?
3. Will it have any impact on my pending I-485 application?

And anything else that I should be concerned about? Someone with similar experience please share it with me.

Having dealt with INS so long for your H1s/140/485/EAD/AP I\'m sure you can confidently go about filing for your AP/EAD yourself.....
 
EAD cost

My lawyer (in San Jose) is charging $220 for EAD renewal/extension so you might want to get another quote on this
