urgent : documents for Local Office Interview

I have a local office (San Francisco) interview scheduled for the end of this month. In addition to the regular documents (passports, W-2, pay statements), they have also asked to furnish police clearances from all U.S. jurisdictions lived in during past 5 years.

Does anyone know what is the procedure for getting a police clearance? How long does it take to obtain a police clearance? Has anyone gone through a similar experience before?

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I have a clean police record. Its just that FBI kept on rejecting my fingerprints as "unreadable".

HI, my case too was transferred to local office SFO on 19th. June 01. Going by your transfer date you seem to have received your interview letter fast. What is your exact date of interview and when did you receive the letter.
