Urgent-Change of jobs-LC & NIW

Hi,
I am in urgent need of advice regarding changing my job. I work in Medical School. The School filed LC for me in May 2002. I am in the process of collecting things for filing NIW case. I interviewed for research associate position today that is a promotion from my current title, has better salary and better boss. Can I change my job within the Medical School without cancelling my current LC. The job responsibilities are similar. My current Professor is a bigger shot and has more NIH grants. Will my NIW case be affected if I change jobs. Please advise. Thanks in advance:)

Let me get this straight. You filed an LC to go with your NIW, right? The "W" in NIW stands for waiver. The waiver is meant to bypass the need for an LC.

To answer your question: Yes, a significant change in your position/title will affect your LC. A change will probably not affect an NIW if it is in the same field.

Thanks so much for your reply. My school filed LC for me. But I am going to file NIW with the help of a lawyer - self-petition. My current Prof is a big shot and I have been successful in my project in last 2 years. My name is on every grant application. Our lab has been on national news. The problem is that I still have not asked my current boss for Reco letters because of all the time that I lost between changing lawyers. My new boss's research is not as big and I have not worked for her.
At this point, I am not sure if I have a better chance for NIW case by sticking around with my current boss. Or do I have an equally good chance by changing jobs, getting promoted to research associate and then applying for NIW with a less known boss. Please advice in your time.

You'd better ask your lawyer. NIW is not dependant on a job offer, so your boss probably won't matter. A lot will depend on how your individual case is structured.
