Urgent - Birth Certificate not acceptable to USCIS

I thought I was ready to file the Adjustment application but just found out the consular birth certificate (i.e. birth cert issued by the Indian consulate) that we have for my wife is not acceptable to the USCIS. Does anyone have experience submitting consular birth certificate to the NBC? . Please, please post experience.

PS: I have read experience for employment-based applicants but those are with the DOs. I am looking for NBC experience.

A birth certificate issued by a Indian consulate is NOT acceptable as evidence of birth by USCIS. You have to get the birth certificate issued in the country of birth and by the proper authority ( registrar of births, etc.)
 
Thanks, I do not mind an RFE. I just want to get the application into the system. That would give me time to get the reqd letter. Do you know if the Consular birth cert will cause the application being rejected?
