Upto 5 yr validity on EAD

Also under the "Electronic Biometrics" section -

USCIS will use the latest in modern technology allowing for the storage of fingerprints, photographs and signature information. This will reduce the workload at USCIS facilities tasked with capturing this information. Additionally, it will eliminate the redundancy associated with recapturing information as new or subsequent applications for a service or benefit are filed.

Maybe this means no more FP2's for new filers ?????

So now these people will sit on case for 5 years that look there final goal. What a shame????? these people are intelligent why cant they make some good decisions??
honey

Our readers seem to be as creative as USCIS....

But hopefully this would really free up some folks at USCIS. Simple math, the EAD work load would go down by 2/3rd assuming now just one EAD vs possibly 3 during the time it takes to process 485

my 2 cents

5 years for EAD might be good for visas that are long enough and can use it. If USCIS is going to process I-485 in 6 months by FY 2006, it means that they might not assign the EAD for that long for these cases, However, J-2 visas will be able to work ONLY with a valid EAD. Some of J-2 holders do not have to leave the country after 2 years of stay (AKA the 2 years rule), and could extend their visa at the US, and still use the same card for as long as they are legally here.

So USCIS can sit on a case for a period upto 5 years on the name of security check. This is a big test to 485 waiters, if one survives for 5 yrs on EAD and slavery to employers, one can survive his/her whole life.
On the name of GC, my employer did not give me an increase in salary since 1999. Will I ever come out of this slavery?????

AC21 ?

Yes, hope 5 ys EAD can reduces the manpower to do EAD and then do more on i140/485 cases, however, i don't understand that CIS gets money by increasing
fees, why not hire more manpower???
Main issue is that USA doesn't like you get GC so fast, say in 3-6 mothes, let you
hopeless, painful and slavery to ... and your boss... that their ancestors faced 200 years ago...???

no, what I mean is:
I485 holders that their cases will be pending for 6 months by FY2006, and will need one, will get one for 6 months, there is no need for more than that.
J-2 holders, can work only if they have a valid EAD. It is the same card, looks exactly the same. They can get the EAD card for as long as they are legally here.

One way or the other guys, this could only be good for us. CIS officers are not going to slow/speed up the 485 process because of change in EAD validity. Having longer duration EADs would free up some of them and hence expedite 485 hopefully! If nothing else, atleast we do not have to worry about getting EAD renewed every year (i am close to my 3rd) and CIS screwing up the card with wrong validity dates, irreasonable RFEs or new picture requests etc etc..

AC21 does not work for everyone. Even though the biased statistics claim recession is coming to an end, number of jobs and economy have not yet come to the same level as that was in 1999.
If one needs to use AC21, then one has to abide with LC, not only the job description but also the salary value with + or - small %. If one sticks on to H1, then his/her employer can claim LC is for a job after GC approval.
Also, many companies started quoting less salary since candidates with AC21 require HR's help.
