update of info on uscis

I understand that as whenever USICS is doing an internal maintenance (such as applying a patch, rebooting their system, or mass adjust some time stamops) there is a chance to trigger their mail system to send email notices to those registered with email service. BUT THAT EMAIL DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN A REAL CHANGE of STATUS of our 485.
I personaly like to receive this kind email because it at least tell us someone is touching the computer system there. The only burden for us to do one more deletition.
Something happening is better than nothing.

This is nothing to do with our RD/ND. When we filed our Cases in Aug 2002 or what ever they have the ND on that and says as your case has filed on bla..bla...when we filed it shows like takes 700 to 770 days. After they updated our record some time back in 2003 saying 999days.
Recently they updated my change of address on 04/08/2004. Now for me displaying the date as 04/08/2004.
That means when they update any thing or touch our application and do some entry the date will chage.

We have seen that a status change makes an update. But no one can be sure what other internal processing makes an update. The guesses you see here are just that, guesses.
The email updates are only a convenience, not a log of actual work. I have now gotten five consecutive emails with no change in status.

Good post.
If the length of processing changes, that changes the message and so makes an update.
A change of address may also make an update. I need to change my address soon; I will let you know if I get an email.
