Hi all,

My lawyer recieved the RFE today. She says its only for employment and pay stubs. She also recieved my wife\'s RFE which is for marriage certificate. So it looks like my consulate birth certificate has been accepted. (Touch wood). The RFE was issued on 4/2/01. Mailed on 4/9/01. Recieved today.

Hey Dan Dan, That\'s not bad. You know the drill and make sure your attorney is sending all the documents properly and quickly. You are almost out of the woods....Good luck.

According to my lawyer INS is accepting consulate certificates. Thats what she\'s been telling me for the past two years. I however did not want to take any chances and got my BC from India. I also have a theory that if you were born before 1970, which I was, INS will probably accept consulate BC, but if you were born after 1970 or so they may ask for actual BC.

Anyway I\'m sure they\'ll accept your BC too so keep your head up :-)

Dan Dan,
Thanks,
Its some relief. I was born before 1970.
Did you submitted any affidavits or some other document
also to support your consulate BC?

Thanks in Advance.

Dan dan,

I have also received the copy of RFE and they have asked same details.. My RFE says employment letter indicating, position, salary, job responsibilities and willingness to hire after green card..

So is your lawyer asking specific letter from company or any general letter which has above contents will be acceptable.. My lawyers office is closed today and I want to get this letter from my company today (sooner the better).. I don\'t want to mess up or bother my company twice.. so please let me know what your lawyer suggested..

Vinayak

Gaurav... I submitted only the consulate certifcates for both me and my wife.

Vinayak... The lawyer handling my case is an employee of my company so I don\'t know what kind of letter she is sending. She said she would take care of it.If I get more info I\'ll let you know.I\'m hesitant to ask for a copy as she might think I\'m questioning her competence , which I\'ve done in the past :-)

Kanti..Yes I did submit my marriage certificate along with my application. My lawyer feels that either it got misplaced and did not go with my application or INS has lost it, as the RFE does not indicate that INS was in any way not satisfied with what was submitted earlier.

Hope this answers all ur questions. I\'m hoping I\'ll get my approval in two weeks.. too optimistic?
