Unused TN Preapproval

A few months ago, I received two offers, one from Company A and one from Company B. At the time, I was scared of the potential upcoming recession, and I accepted both offers.

After thinking about which offer to take, I eventually decided to go with Company A. I received a tn visa preapproval through uscis for Company A, but due to a personal reason, I decided to go with Company B. Even though I received a tn visa preapproval through uscis, I never went to a poe to actually get a tn.

What is my current status with respect to the tn visa? Do I currently have a tn visa for Company A? To get a tn visa for Company B, would I need to apply for a company transfer, or just apply for a new tn visa?

Company B want so to apply for a preapproval for tn with uscis. Company B never asked be about my history with the tn visa. Should I tell them about my unused preapproval with Company A? Should Company B wait until the preapproval with Company A gets cancelled (not sure how long this would take and how I would check this). Does it matter how long the time period is between when the tn preapproval came from Company A and when the application is sent for a tn preapproval for Company B?

Would uscis realize that I accepted both offers at the same time (from Company A and from Company B) by looking at the offer letter from Company A (which they have through the tn preapproval application from Company A), and the offer letter from Company B (which they would have through the tn preapproval application from Company B)? If so would they deny the tn preapproval application for Company B? Would uscis notify Company A and Company B about accepting both offers at the same time?

Sorry for a long list of questions, I think I'm in a unique situation, and I really want to be prepared for getting a tn visa.

There is no need to cancel any previous approval. More important is what is your relationship with Company A? If it is non-existent, you have no TN at this point (and never have), and simply need to get a "new employment" TN with Company B, if they insist on filing for pre-approval.

I would not waste time and effort with pre-approval. Simply go to the border and get a TN there.

I'm not 100% sure what my relationship with Company A is. I accepted an offer from them, and I got a tn visa preapproval for Company A. I never started working for Company A, and I won't work for Company A.

So, you have no relationship, and you certainly do not have a TN, which would be an I-94 received at the border.

Besides, even if you did work for A, and continued to do so, you would still be able to get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. TN with other sponsors.

Take your new paperwork, go to the border, and get a TN, forget pre-approval.

So just to confirm, I should just proceed as if I never got the tn preapproval for Company A, right?

Your pre-approval is meaningless, just as the next one will be, until you actually use it at the border

You need to go to the border.

Thanks for your reply. I just wanted to ask, is there a need to wait for the old tn preapproval (for Company A) to get terminated before applying for another preapproval (through uscis) or getting a tn directly (at a poe) for a new company? I'm asking because some people have suggested this.

There is no "termination" of I-129 pre-approvals for TN. Just get this done. This will help you get over your clear pre-disposition to hesitate.
