Generally, if you are in the US in legal status, when a visa becomes available for you, you file for adjustment of status (I-485, G-325A and I-765 for work permit). You will get fingerprinted and then, some time later (how long, it depends on where you are as different local offices have different processing times) you will have an interview.

If you are out of status, but are protected by the 245(i) provisions you will have to file I-485 supplement A, and pay $1,000 fee instead of a regular form I-485.

I am not sure how the procedure looks like if you are still in your home country.

thanks for your help..

In F1 category, the visas are available for cases with priority dates of April 8, 2001, so you shouldn't have to wait much longer.

From what I found out, once a visa becomes available for you, the NVC will notify the American Ambassy in your country and you will receive a notice to come in for the processing of your case. They will tell you what documents you will need to file. I have no idea how long it takes to process the case like this in your country, the more people immigrate from there, the busier the Ambassy will be, but it shouldn't take more than few months.

You must remain unmarried until you arrive in the US and actually receive your permanent resident status, otherwise, you will forfeit the visa and drop back to F3 category.

Hope that helps you a little.
Good luck

Here is your answer

According to your priority date, you should have received package 3 from the National Visa Center about a year ago. The Pack 3 will instruct you step by step to fill in your information and retain affidavit of support from your financial sponsor. After the NVC reviews your package 3, your case will move forward to the U.S. consulate. Once your priority date becomes current, the U.S. consulate in your home country will send you Package 4 to schedule an interview. If you have yet heard anything from NVC, you need to contact the NVC ASAP with your NVC immigration case number or the receipt number on your approved I-130 petition (Approval Notice I-797 form). You must land the U.S. before getting married. An immigration visa allows you enter to the U.S. as a legal resident, but it does not mean that you have been granted residency until you pass the port of entry. Good Luck.

The NVC contact number; 603-334-0700

Once your PD becomes current,NVC should initiate the process by sending you a letter and from then on till the time of the interview, count on atleast 6 months not less.Correspondence to and from NVC consumes time and if you are outside US it takes even longer. But keep 6 months in persepective from the time the actual process starts.
Good luck.

Your reply is little off the right track. He DOES NOT HAVE TO wait the PD current to begin the NVC process. The NVC normally initiates the visa process a year before the PD becomes current. If he waits till the PD becomes current to start package 3 and affidavit of support, he will lose at least a few months to deal with the NVC. My brother’s case has been in the U.S. consulate waiting for the PD to become current. The NVC contacted him about a year before his PD becomes current on the State Department Visa Bulletin. He should contact the NVC NOW if he has not done so because his PD is about a month to become current. How fast he will receive his visa will be up to the U.S. consulate in his country after the NVC transfers the case to the U.S. consulate. It normally takes less than 3 months to receive an interview schedule if the PD is current and the case arrives at the U.S. consulate. Good Luck.

And I Want To Know :what To Do

answer

I will try my best to answer your question.
You will not get any forms from the U.S. consulate. You need to contact the NVC with your immigration case number. You tell them you are under FB-1 category and your priority is going to be current in the next few months. I copy and paste this inform from the NVC website. The U.S. consulate only contacts you when your priority becomes current for the interview. Therefore, you must contact the NVC first to process your DS-3032 and I-864 form.
When an applicant's priority date is close to becoming current , NVC will send an Affidavit of Support (I-864 form) processing fee bill to the petitioner and an Agent of Choice and Address (DS-3032) form to the applicant. Once the I-864 processing fee is paid, NVC will send the I-864 forms and instructions to the petitioner. Once NVC receives the form DS-3032 from the applicant, NVC will mail the Immigrant Visa (IV) fee bill to the agent of choice. Once the IV fee bill is paid, NVC will send the Instruction Packet of forms and information to the agent. The exact contents of the Instruction Packet will depend on where the applicant will be interviewed for a visa. For instance, the Instruction Packet we send to people applying in China is different from the one we send to applicants in France.
Should you get married or married after receiving green card?
This is a tough call. Since your PD is May 2001, you have to wait at least other 3-5 years to get your green card if you convert to FB3. FB3 has shown very slow movement recently, but you can stay with your future wife in your country. If you use FB1, you will receive your GC in 4-6 months, then file your future wife under FB2A. She has to wait 3 to 4 years to joint you. FB2A has shown quick movement recently. The worst case is that she waits 5 years till you become USC. The disadvantage is that you have to stay in the U.S. for 6 months each year. She may have problem to visit you in the U.S. since she will show immigration intent after you file her paper. Good luck.

i agree with you that i should take the gc .then make a papers for my future wife ,,but i want your advise,, could i marry here before the interview.. and donot say a word about this in the interview...to save some time

answer

If your embassy offers the services as INS adjustment of status in the U.S. you are fine and just wait for your priority to be current.

You second question: the answer is simple and firm: DO NOT DO IT.
NEVER NEVER AND EVER LIE TO IMMIGRATION OFFICER or HIDE THE FACT IF THEY RAISE A QUESTION.
it would make worse than you thought. your green card could be revoked even after you enter the U.S. successfully when you file paper work for your future wife. You have to present your marriage certificate that has a date. you could be deported and banned to enter to the U.S. for life time. I am not kidding. If you decide to take FB-1 which I think it is a wise choice, getting married after you receive your green card in the U.S. the only expense will be a round-trip ticket rather than a sorry for the rest of your life. The price and risk are too high to justify
GOOD LUCK
