Current situation of Job losses, unemployment and economic downturn, will impact already filed labor petitions? ....how about new ones....

regards

Since approval require that there be no qualified and willing USC/LPR applicants, it will very difficult to get new approvals.

Hi folks,

I am planning to start my GC Processing with my employer. Do you think it is really a bad time for that? I only have until oct 2010 before my H1b expires. Any piece of advice will be really appreciated.

Thanks

I would say - start your GC, when you will be half thru the process and you (if) will be layed off - you can move you GC process to another employer.

I assume it depends on your industry. The regs state that for a PERM to be approved, there must be not available, able, or willing US workers for that position. If you are in the industries where there are significant layoffs where US workers are actively seeking new jobs... well, you get what I mean.

Good luck to you.

Thought I would comment on this -- you cannot 'move your gc process to another employer.' When you go to a new company, they can only start the process all over.

The only way to 'move the gc process to another employer' is if you have an approved I-140 with Company A, and then Company B files a PERM and I-140 for you, requesting that your I-140 priority date from Company A be recaptured.
