Unemployment and applying for Naturalization

I have been unemployed for over a year now. Is it reasonable for me to apply for naturalization given that I've been unemployed for so long? Or would it look bad to apply for naturalization while you're not working? Does it really matter that you're currently unemployed as long previous work history is fine?

The only problem (a small problem) is that they might ask you to show how you've supported yourself financially during your period of unemployment, so be prepared with proof of that. That proof could be the savings in your bank account, your spouse's income, a pension, unemployment or disability benefits, or other possibilities depending on your situation.
