Unemployment after GC

Can you collect unemployment after been laid off from a company that is not your GC sponsoring company. My friend moved to another employer after 9 months and now his new company has a state wide budge cut. What should he do? Does by collecting unemployment, your citizenship case could be in jeopardy or if you are sponsoring someone in family. Friend of mine in CA got approved, he changed his employer even B4 getting GC. He is now a happy US citizen. Please assist.

Collecting unemployment benefit should not affect your citizenship eligibility.
In most of the states, unemployment benefit is an insurance. It's not a public charge.

What about the employer who filed your GC and he got out from him after 9 months. He worked on EAD parallely for this employer also who is laying him off now. Do you think this case could be bad for the sponsoring employer or bad impact in any sense on citizenship filing? I think once you are on GC everybody has a same queue of getting citizenship unless you have criminal charges against you.
My friend also wants to sponsor his parents in near future, does this unemployment goes against him?

Not if he has enough financial ability at the time of sponsoring - by means of either wealth or income.

By getting Unemployment does it jeopardizes your green card (which U got through H1B - EB3 employment base) status in any sense? Can you sponsor any relatives later on. Plz assist. Thanks

I don't see that as a problem.
To sponsor relative you can show money in the bank.
And you can still collect unemployment if you have money in the bank...and no job

But why people says that it could jeperdize your employer who sponsored you or in some cases you yourself. Your card was approved b'cos you'll work for the employer not that you work for some 1 else, plus you are applying for a government assistance? Is there any legalities behind these statments or not?

Thanks
