Pls help me understand the proccess.....

So I got my I-140 approved in Aug\'00.
I applied for my I-485 in Dec\'00
I got my recepit for filing I-485 dated Dec\'00.

So what is the next step now.
I get a call for fingerprinting ??
How long after fingerprinting is done do we actually get the GC ?

I can\'t understand the abbreviations .

For example, what is AVM, IIO,AP ??

Did you get a notice from INS with Dec \'00? If so then your ND (notice date) is that date in Dec 00.
If you got that date from FEDEX etc. (when the package was delivered), then that date is RD (receipt date).

Now you will get a call for your FP(fingerprinting). After that\'s done you will call FBI and make sure that the print was ok.
Hopefully it will be. But if not then you will go to local INS office and get the fingerprint notice printed again and do the
FP again.

Now your case will be assigned and hopefully you will get a very quick adjustment of Status(AOS).
For us it took 2 months after FP.

AVM : Automated vioce message !!!! I hope that\'s the correct one. But anyway it is the voice menu you hear when you call CSC

So when I can truly say I got my GC ?

When I get my plastic card or when they just tell me verbally that it is approved ??

Also how soon after RD do we usually get FP notice ??

When you hear on the AVM that your case is approved that\'s when your status changes from H1 to GC. After you get the approval notice in mail or from your attorney, you go to local INS and get stamped. That\'s like a temporary GC (BUT AT THIS POINT YOU BECOME A GC HOLDER). The plastic card will come in mail in 4-6 months and will replace your temp. GC. The plastic card GC is valid for 10 years whereas the temp. one is valid for a year.

For me, the RD was 9/1/2000, ND was 9/14/2000 and I got FP notice on 10/15/2000 and FP was done on 10/30/2000. I cannot tell you whether that\'s the standard time frame because with INS nothing is standard. Hope it helps

Dimpu, your case is very recent. Finger prints will not be issued
so quickly for you. Go to CSC tracking lists and you will have
some idea on what months of ND are getting FP notices.

Can anybody tell me how I can track the plastic card process?

I mean: Can I use the same phone # and the WAC from I-485 for this?

I see that people with RD of 11/00 and 12/00 are getting FP notices.

Where is the CSC tracking lists ??

Msmilo,

Checking your plastic card is exactly the same as checking your
I-485 status. The same phone number and wac.
