Under Review

Guys,

Me and my wife applied for our I-485's in July,2006 (together, through my wife). Recently we initiated an inquiry about the status and both of us got this reply for our applications.

"Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action withing 60 days of the date of this letter."

What does this mean? Are we stuck in name check? Is this a "standard reply" that USCIS sends to anyone who inquires about his/her case?

Thanks in advance

This means that your NC is cleared and they are working to review your case for approval, RFE,....etc. If the name check is not cleared yet they will say that frankly. In a different application belonging to me, I contacted congressman and after 4 months I received the same formate you received and after 2 weeks or so my case approved.

Guys,

It's already been around 50 days since I got the letter saying "Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action withing 60 days of the date of this letter". Till now, I have not received any decision/RFE/LUD etc.

Now, I really doubt I will receive a decision in next 10 days.

What do you guys suggest my next step should be?

I don't think I would gain anything by initiating another inquiry with USCIS because they will probably send me a meaningless letter like this again.

Thanks

UPDATE - Did another inquiry with TSC and this time got a letter saying that I am stuck in Background Check and if I don't hear anything in 6 months....blah blah blah...

Any idea why they sent a 60 day letter earlier (with no mention of Background Check) and now this Background Check letter.

Also, I plan to contact the congressman/ FL etc. but I want to attach FOIPA with my letter.

Is this the form that I need to send to FBI for FOIPA:

http://foia.fbi.gov/privacy_instruc.htm
http://foia.fbi.gov/privacy_request.pdf

The last line of the instructions say "State how much you are willing to pay for duplication fees if any are assessed". What does this mean? and how much did you guys put here?

Thanks in advance
