Unbelievable EAD approval

Hi,

I applied for EAD extension on 5th Feb and today i checked the online status and it says that my EAD was approved and a new card was ordered and i might get it soon in the mail.

I guess that's some relief......

Way to go VSC......

My AP application is still in progress i think that might take some time....
 
Oh Boy ! you are the luckiest one on the earth. I have been waiting for my Efiled renewal for the past 4+ months.

It was normal a while ago but people who applied in Aug throu Dec 2003 had to wait 4 to 5 months for EAD approval. I think VSC is is back to normal speed now.
 
Congrats and even my EAD also got approved today by surprise. I was planning on going to local INS soon for a temporary one.

Procedure to extend student EAD?

Iam a new person in this group. I have my current EAD till the 15th of september 2004. I was wondering if there is any clause which allows me to extend my EAD for say 6 months after the expiration of the current EAD.

If so, could you please let me know what is the procedure I need to follow and forms I need to fill ( is it I-765?). Your help would be great to me.

Is there a role of the international students advisor in this issue as I do not want that person to interfere in this issue. My nearest BCIS office is in Detroit.

Usually EAD gets extended on an yearly basis and i haven't come across any clause that says you could extend it only for 6 months. I am not sure why you want it to be extended only for 6 months.

There is only one form for EAD extension and that is I765.
I am not sure about the role of International students advisor.

You could apply for EAD extension 5 to 6 months in advance.

I was not sure if you can extend it for 6 months of for an year. This clears my doubts. Do I have to take the I-765 form to the local BCIS office (which is in Detroit) and submit it there or post it to the Nebraska Service Center. Can I fill the I-765 online for this?

There are 2 ways you could apply

1. By Regular Mail :

You need the following documents.

• 2 photos which fits INS requirement with A# and name written with pencil on back.
• A check $120.00 for I-765 renewal fee made in the name of "Immigration and naturalization service"
• Original Form I-797 D (from last EAD)
• I -765 Renewal Application
• A copy of last EAD(front and back)
• A copy of Form I-94 Departure Record (front and back)
• A copy of I-485 Receipt Notice
• A copy of last I-765 Receipt Notice
• Marriage Certificate for secondary applicant.
• Color copy of your drivers license and passport.

You need to send all the above document to the service center by fedex overnight or ups.

2. EFile :

Check the BCIS website they have details, i think you could file it from there. In this case you need to visit the local center as well.
