I live in Texas. Back in January I was given a class C misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia(a weed pipe) and being in the park after hours. I hired an attorney to try and get the case dismissed, and it's still pending. I became a legal resident at 16 with my mom through VAWA due to some family violence issues with my stepdad who was a U.S. citizen. My question is: I want to apply for my citizenship as soon as possible and was wondering if I should be worried about the citation. It is the only issue i've had with the law. I wasn't arrested or anything. I was asked to step down, give some information, and then was let go with the citation. I plan on going to an immigration lawyer when it comes time to apply, but I'd like to know what to expect so I don't run into any surprises. Am I in the clear?? Should I be worried about getting deported? My green card expires on 2026.
