Typos and wrong information in forms

Hi,

I filed for PR in Dec 2005 and a couple of days ago I glanced at the copies of the papers I filed. To my horror I found that I had made two mistakes in filling the forms:
1. On the I-864, I had made a typo on the "Place of Birth" for my wife (USC). Instead of "Warren", I had typed "Warre".
2. On the G-325a bio form, I have given the wrong place of birth for my mother.

Now I'm worried that this will cause problems because of providing "false information". I called USCIS and they asked me to send the corrections typed in a letter.

Does anybody have experience with correcting wrong information that was put into the forms by accident?

I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hi cheerus,

I have no experience in that matter, whatsoever. I tend to think, that they won't hold it against you since you noticed the typos by yourself and informed them in a timely manner. I cannot see how that will do any harm to your case. Au contraire, I think it was good that you've been proactive and I think they appreciate that since it shows how cooperative you are.

Just my 2ct. Best of luck

This should not be a problem. However, when you go for the interview, take a copy of the letter you sent and make sure the officer goes over all the corrections. I had a friend who did similar mistake with his wife's last name and asked the officer to correct it during the interview.

Good Luck!

What EricNessGC says is correct. I had the same problem where my wifes last name on my biographic information page printed out as "none" from my lawyers software. We just pointed that out at the time of the interview.

Thank you very much for your responses. I feel much better now. I guess I'll wait for the interview to make the correction... whenever that is!
