typo in first name on green card (plastic). How to get it corrected?

Today, I received my green card and noticed that the first name has a typo. What\'t the process to get it corrected? How long does it take?

Local INS office collected the incorrect card and said that the new card will take 6 months

  In my card too, they had a typo error in my first name. Please let me know what documents do i need to take to local INS office.
I believe i need I-90, 2 photos and original card. Do i need any other documents like copies of passport etc?
Let me know which local office you went.
Did u have to go very early to INS office.
Hope the card comes soon.

I saw your posts ..Your case transferred to Dallas Local in Jan 15 th
and you must have given your interview in feb 3 rd week and got your card already...

I am in the same shoes .
RD Feb 2000
FP march 2001
EB2 India.
Case transferred from Vermont to Dallas TX on March 5 th.
Do you think I can expect interview schedule in a month.

Could you post your details & your experience please.
