Hello
I got the H1B approval notice(I-797) with a typo mistake in my last name. All the papers submitted by my employer have the correct name.If i attach a letter with the petition and send it for revalidation to St.Louis ,will it be accepted?Do they even look at such a letter? What is the other remedy?
My employer has contacted INS through a written request also, but its been more than 45 days and no response from INS yet.
Do i wait for the INS reply or do i send it for revalidation with the incorrect name, but attaching a explanatory letter.?
I would be thankful if you can advise.
I did dig up similiar posts from the past but couldnt percieve a definite course of action from them.
Thanks Again.....

Ask your attorney to send it back to USCIS to make necessary info. I dont remeber the form #..but your attorney will know how to do it.
I would wait until it comes back with the correct info before getting stamped.

sdrblr,
thanks for the reply.Isnt sending back the original paper a risk?i would be left with nothing than with me....Please advise..

When I say send it back I mean for name correction. Your case is already approved so nothing to fear.

typo on I797

Thanks for the continued followup.I appreciate it.
Attorney says,he wil send INS an explanatory letter, copy of all papers when filing, and copy of 797 AND THEY SHOULD GET BACK WITHIN 2 WEEKS OR SO..
Will this approach work??
Thanks again...
