Two quick questions: I-485 & I-131

Hello,

I originally filed an I-485 along with I-130 at the Arlington, VA office in October 2001. Subsequently, we moved to New York and so in February 2002, I wrote to the INS (now BCIS) to transfer my documents to the NYC office. I have confirmation that these documents were transferred sometime in mid-2002. Since then, I have obtained an EAD from the NYC office and also have been granted Advance Parole.

My first question and probably one that is asked quite frequently: how long is the waiting period/processing time before I receive a response for the I-485 application?

My second question. After receiving advance parole in September 2002, I travelled overseas and returned to the United States in early November. The arrival stamp on the Advance Parole document as well as my I-94 states that I was paroled until November 2003 (while the document expiration was through September 2003). I am unsure what the term "paroled until" means. I just want to make sure that I am not out-of-status just because my I-94 states that I was paroled until November 2003.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thanks.

Hello,

First question, I don't know how long it will take for transfer files, but as myself, it took me about 2.5 year from start to the end.

I was filed in July 2001 based on my husband (US Citizen) and got interview at May 2003 and then pending until Dec 2003. New York City is very slow.

Second question, don't worried about that. It doesn't mean you are out of status. I had the same experience as you do.
