Hi all, I applied for citizenship at the start of August 2011, got a FP notice on Aug 22 for September 6 (walked in and did it on Aug 26th). However I have not heard anything from USCIS since. I have called them numerous times and they tell me they are still waiting for my file from the National Benefit Center(apparently file was requested for on Sept.10th and then again on Oct.11th). I am losing patience as I want to go home for Christmas and I am wondering if any of you guys have gone through the same experience and if there is something I can do at this point.

I live in Brooklyn and my local field office is Federal Plaza, NYC. Thanks in advance...

Look it up

Look up the processing times for NYC at: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

seems long but is not

You can always do an INFOPASS if that makes you feel better that you haven't miss anything, but in all honesty two months since you applied is nothing bad. You still have to wait. FP's are just done quite fast and then there are couple of months of waiting. After I did my Fp's I even moved and thought I lost something. I had to wait like 3 months from my fp's to get my interview letter. I did not received a YL. Mine was based on the five years and my DO was ATL.

Thank you all for your help. I have scheduled an infopass for this Friday and hopefully I will get some useful information. I will keep you posted.

They did not give me much information. They said they are backlogged and that I shouldn't worry about it as I am still within their processing time - 8months!

The file is still in Los Angeles, I have scheduled another infopass for the end of the month. Hopefully if I stay on their back something will happen.

got YL?

did you get a yellow letter? i am also NYC and i got a YL on Nov 9. See sig. NYC is moving very very slow. i think (as per the wording on the YL) they sent my file to NYC DO and based on other timelines i'm expecting an IL anywhere from 1 week to 3 months from now! its painful.

That's the right way..Go in for another Infopass and remind them that your file is still pending. Backlogging of citizenship applicationhttp://www.uscitizenship.info is really a problem that the USCIS needs to focus on. Keep us posted. Good Luck!!

I'm from queens, nyc too! maybe you don't need a YL. not everyone gets one. but i moved so i'm assuming they want to see my driver's license or something.

Hi, thanks for the response. It seems that we both have the same timeline. I had my FP done on the 29th of sept. I guess we should keep each other posted so we know when to expect IL, lete know if you do. Thanks

i did walk in for my FP 2 weeks ago, but uscis hasn't placed me in line for testing and interview. Nothing changed on online case status which should tell they received my FP. Is it normal, folk?

Very normal. The status update after FP does not happen that quick. In my case, it took about 6-7 weeks. This was for the Raleigh-Durham office. Please keep in mind that every case is different and every local office has different processing times.

To everyone who have had theirs fingerprints taken - The processing times of the fingerprints and scheduling interview will vary from local office and also to individual cases of citizenship application. If at all you do not get any response even after 12 weeks, then may be you can go in for Infopass. Until then waiting patiently is the only option.

FP done. No updates

Same here. I finished my FP, but there is no update either online or via email or text.

jessicapotter - Is there any reason why you are including the external link in your posts? Does that site belong to you?

I went in today for my second infopass but still no file. It is still in Los Angeles. So I asked the lady to put in another request for the file. I am trying to get a lawyer in Los Angeles so he can walk in and find out the reason for all this delay. It sucks since they can't put me on the interview schedule without the file being present in NYC. I even put in a service request over the phone on 11/08/11 but nothing is happening. The lady said that getting a lawyer is pointless but I just don't want it to be a whole year of wasting time...........and being frustrated. You would think that with all the application fees they would hire a sufficient workforce to take care of business.

Good luck to you all, at least your cases are shifting.

N.B - I did get a yellow letter in October asking for a copy of passport on day of interview.

bndagire - I am also from NYC area though my DO is Newark (I live across the Hudson). I understand your pain.

Btw, why is your file in LA? Did you have your GC interview there?

What does your Online status show today?
