Two J-1 questions - HADRON or anybody

Say you have a J-1 for two years and then leave the US for whatever reason (switch in specialties, etc.).
You then apply for a new J-1 and come back to continue your training.
Questions:
1) By applying for new J-1 new sponsorship, do you accumulate another two years HRR?
2) Does this year inbetween, while outside the US, count towards your HRR (if you spent it in your home country, of course)?
Thanks!

Once on J-1 rule applies

As you came back on J-1, the rule applies. The time spent outside will not count as you are back on J-1. Only 2 yr rule applies. It does not get multiplied by as 2 as you had it twice.

In other words... - HADRON or anybody

1) The year inbetween does not count towards your 2YHRR.
2) You do not accumulate another 2 years by applying again for sponsorship, even though it is a different specialty.
Right?
Thanks!

If you come back on J-1 two year rule applies again. You cannot complete two year HRR and then come back on J1 and say no 2 year rule HRR because you have done it once.
