I was looking at my girlfriend's I-797C and there is an application number on the top of the page NBC*000... and then towards the bottom of the page there is USCIS office address and the last line is attention N-400 Naturalization Applications and then there is another number NBC$000...
These two numbers are different. I checked my girlfriend's sister's I-797C as well and same thing is on her application. Then I got home and checked my I-797C and same things as well. The NBC*000 on the top is different from NBC$000... (notice the * and $ difference as well).
When I queried the NBC$000... online I got an error saying that the number is invalid, so I replaced $ with * and did the query again and got a status that is different than the status I get when I use the NBC* number on the top.
In my case
Status check with my application number NBC*000... (located on the top of I-797C) says send RFE. However, when I do a status check on the NBC$000... (located on the bottom of I-797C) and with replacing $ with *, I get a status that it has been sent for standard interview.
I am guessing that the bottom NBC$ is some other tracking number used by USCIS, and when I replace the $ with *, I am actually checking someone else's case status
.
Any thoughts?
