Try for tourist visa while K-3 (I130) is pending?

I am a US citizen and I recently married an Indian national in India ~2months ago. I have filed an I130 and received the I-797 NOA just a few days ago. I want to bring my wife here quickly as she has no family there.

I am thinking of starting the process for a K-3..

My question is....Can my wife apply for a tourist visa while a K-3 case is processing? or will this cause problems?

Also, can anyone tell me how long it would take at this time to obtain a visa via the K-3 process?

thanks for your help...

Your wife can apply for a tourist visa. It will not cause any problem. It will probably result in the state department making $100 in 45 seconds. Since your wife's I-130 clearly indicates immigration intent, her B-2 visa application will most likely be denied in a heartbeat.

I think I understand what you're saying....

the tourist visa (b2) is for nonimmigrant intent, but the I130 indicates immigrant intent...correct?

We are just trying to find a way to see each other as soon as possible....

if she does in fact try for the B2, will the I130 case be halted/delayed due to the b2 attempt, or would it be considered a separate case altogether?

thanks again

Now what if the fiance already has a visit visa before applying for K status. Can she visit US on her B visa while the process is going on.

If the fiance'/fiancee' has a valid B-2 visa, he/she can travel to a POE and seek admission. Whether that admission is granted or not, no one can guarantee.
