Is it true that within the first 6 months a J1 visa (physician-in-training) can be changed to an H1, as either change of status in the US, or as a new visa from an embassy/consulate overseas?
if it is a J-1 for a physician, then it carries a home residency requirement, which precludes the "lucky" person from changing J-1 status to anything else and also precludes him from getting an H1 visa.
