Hey everyone, I just joined here and was looking for a little insight into a problem my girlfriend and I are having.
A little back ground info: My girlfriend lives in Canada and is 19 years old, I'm living in the US and am 22 so we are both legal adults. I have a steady job, a place to live, a car etc etc. She HAD a job, has a place to live and family there.
We had planned for her to come to the US to visit me for maybe 2 or 3 months and then whenever we decided we would go back to Canada and stay there for a few months with her family. So because of that I bought her a one way ticket to me. It all made sense to us, we didn't see the problem. Well, upon her arriving at the border she was denied entry into the US because of her one way ticket. She told them the story and they still denied her so she became hysterical because she didn't know what to do. Long story short, there was a scene. The next week I sent her money for a round trip ticket because the lady at the border that attended her said if she had a roundtrip ticket she would be able to enter the country. Well she gets to the border again and is again denied access. She was pulled aside and told that the first lady had flagged her as an "escape risk" without telling her.
Now my question is....what are our options now? She said the letter they sent her states that the "flag" is like a charge and if she doesn't fight it she isn't allowed access into the US for 7 years. But if she does fight it she has to go to court and mess with all that stuff. Is a Visa or Greencard out of the question now? What about marriage, would that make any difference?
Sorry for being long winded but if you bothered to read this far thank you. I need any ideas or insight into this that anyone is willing to give me.
Thanks!
Joseph
