Trends based on last updated date

I am new to this site. Seniors, please correct me if I am wrong, but based on what I have read so far during the last few weeks, USCIS seems to be handling the 485 applications from 3 different periods:

Dec01 to Feb02 – More cases from this period are being looked into right now. We are also seeing more approvals from this period.

Oct02 to Mar 03 – About 500 to 1000 cases were picked randomly in March 2004 and RFE and/or 2nd FP requested.

Mar04 to current – A few pilot cases are being approved based on concurrent filing 140/485

Of course, there may be exceptions but they seem to be small in number.

It also appears that if you have a valid FP done and reviewed before RFE response is received by USCIS, you have a greater chance of approval within 2 to 3 weeks of receipt of RFE response. I have not seen an approval for a case where RFE response was received first and second FP was received next (not unless the FP review has been completed within a day or two of receipt of RFE response).

I wonder if we can get more specific trends based on last updated date.

May I request the recently approved ladies and gentlemen to give us some info by providing the following info:

- First 5 digits of WAC#
- RD/ND
- Latest RFE request and responded date
- Latest FP requested and responded date
- Last updated date (if possible, please provide an audit trail – for example, if the last updated changed after receiving RFE or FP or perhaps internal processing without any status change)

I am particularly curious about last updated date changing without any status update. How many times does it change? For the recent approvals, how many times did it change?

Even if your case is not yet approved, please provide info if the last updated date has changed. I will start with my info:

My guess

They are working on Cases from December to April. They are not quite
done with December and January. Some lucky people in these months
got off the hook. But others are just pending. And a large number too.

February also saw some action and so did April. April seems to be more
active than March. About 10% cases approved in April and Feb and even
lesser in March.

Very few cases in Feb have got RFE, even less in March and more in
April which makes me think April is more active.

Since number of cases approved are large and RFEs are less it might be
that lot of cases are getting approved without RFE.

Overall picture still is gloomy for Jan, Feb, March and April. About 90%
cases are still pending.

Well....if you are lucky you will hear something soon. They will need to pick up pace. This is progress though. And if they stop
sending stupid RFEs another few months will be exciting.

My bar is still open though. Come drink and drown your sorrow bcos gc ain't coming. Atleast not yet.

Just Curious!! what do you mean by RFE requested in March. Did you request for RFE or did INS send an RFE to you ?

I have created a spreadsheet (based on public information from various threads) to analyze the last updated date. If you would like to give your missing information and/or suggestions, you are welcome.

Clearly, 4/7/04 was a siginificant date. I suppose they introduced a new system and/or scanned lot of applications. It appears as if those cases are beginning to get 2nd FP notice.

I have very limited information on approved cases to make any guess on the link between last updated date and approved date. Request your recently approved friends to post information here.

Here is the first draft of Excel spreadsheet. Comments are welcome! I will take responsibility to maintain the spreadsheet. If this is a conflict with some other efforts underway already, please let me know.

RFE generated by INS on 2nd April 2004
RFE for update on immunization record, 3 year W2s, EVL.
Replied with AC21 as there was a change in my job starting April 1 2004
RFE received by INS on 3rd May 2004.
Last touch date changed to 4th May 2004 with change in case status to RFE reply received.
On May 7th Last touch date changed to 7th May 2004(no change in case status). :confused:
Good news: Approved on May 10 2004 :)

Thanks for taking the effort to do this.

Everyone, please update ur last touch date with any factor that might have triggered activity (fax inquiry,using AP, address change, RFE, EAD/AP applications FP notices/FP updates or anything else)

1st Touch Date (that I saw): 3/28 -- Feinstein's office faxed an inquiry
2nd Touch Date: 5/4
1st fingerprints: 2002 some time
2nd fingerprints: 1/16/2004
Approval: sometime in 2008 -- just kidding, none yet

Friends,

If your touch date changes, please post your case details along with touch date information. It might be useful to understand what Last Updated date might mean.

From limited data in the attached spreadsheet, it looks like they have done something on 4/7/04 on a large scale. I think quite a few are receiving FP2 notices.

The next significant date appears to be 5/4/4. All the cases that I have captured with touch date of 5/4 seem to have a valid FP (first/second does not matter).

I will update the spreadsheet daily and post it in this thread. I will provide a touch date sorted version soon.

Touch Date tracker

One trend that is emerging so far from the limited dataset is that if you have valid FP and then your RFE response reaches USCIS, you are more likely to be approved within 2 to 3 weeks.
