Travelling with RP and GC

Hi,
I would really appreciate if anyone knows the answer to this

My husband is a PR and has a Valid Re-Entry Permit. About 2 years ago we travelled to Europe with these both and a schengen Visa. With all the changes in required documents, i wasn't sure if this was still allowed.

He cannot get a passport from his country for political reasons. I was told that yes, they will give him the schengen visa from Spain and that, that will not be the problem, that the problem will be being able to board the plane as now they only accept passports for international travel??

So, the travel document can no longer be used for travel for "stateless" PR's?

If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks

I travel on an RP too, as I am an asylee-turned-LPR, and I haven't been prevented from boarding. It still works just like a passport. Don't worry. I'm actually flying tomorrow :)
