Travelling to India while OCI still "UnderProcess"

We will be traveling to India (already booked the tickets) our OCI application shows as "UnderProcess". If we don't get the OCI documents before we leave for India (with visitor visa), what options do we have? We will be in India for more than 6 months.

- Will the consulate hold our OCI documents for more than 6 months?
- Is it possible to mail the passports to USA from India to get the OCI sticker and card?
-Or is it possible to get the OCI sticker and card in India (not sure how the Indian consulate in USA will deal with this)

Please help.

It is unlikely they will let you pick up OCI in India, or hold for 6 months. I am not sure if it is legally OK to send passports across countries by mail/courier, but it might work.

Easiest option will be to return to US and get the passports stamped.
Next best will be to file from India ... withdraw the old one if you can. Even if you let the fees go, the cost of tickets will be more than cost of re-filing.
Last option will be to land up in MHA and see if some adjustment (wink) can be made.

Or, just delay the India trip. Although it will cost, it will make your life much simpler. Delaying now will be better than last minute change, but you can try either way.

You can get a visitor visa and travel and no issues with that
but even in that I do not think they will allow you to stay for more than six months
remember there is a two month restrictions between each visits on a visitor visa

What is the date of your OCI Acknowedgement on OCI status page?
if the OCI application at this time Shows "Underprocess' then in few days it will change to" Photo/Sinature Scanned" once it is Scanned then Delhi Prints OCI in 4-6 days After "Scanning date' and then expect 15-days to get it from Consulate.
you can get Visa while OCI is Pending and enter India with Visa and single stay will be 180d ays and you must also Registar with FRRO in 14 days. when you are back then Collect the OCI from Consulate and Delhi people will not give your OCI to you it will be sent to Consulate where you applied.

Thanks to all for your response. My acknowledgment date is May 2nd and still show as "Underprocess" (not scanned yet). I guess, we won't get it before we leave on May 24th.
