My understanding is this. Unlike the green card process, when "permission" has to be granted by the USCIS before overseas trips can be made, no such requirement exists for the naturalization process, assuming your trip is not of a duration that will jeopardise your continuous residency. However, DO NOT stop your mail. Make sure that somebody checks it and be prepared to return to meet any USCIS appointments unless you want to apply for re-scheduling of same. This is do-able but can introduce delays. I am also in the N-400 process and plan to make a 10 day business trip to China in October.
Does the above match with others' understanding of the issue ???????
