I wonder if it's ok to travel using Indina passport after aqcuiring US citizeship thru naturalization. I though we can't. However, I saw following note on Travisa Outsourcing. Based on that it seems it's ok to travel using Indian passport withing 3 months of acquiring US citizeship. OR am i reading too much :). Here is cut-paste

9.Potential Penalty Fees Required: Once a person acquires citizenship of another country, it is obligatory to surrender Indian citizenship and Indian passport should not be used for travel 3 months beyond the date of acquisition of citizenship. If the Indian passport is retained for more than 3 years after acquisition of citizenship of another country, a penalty of $250.00 will be charged except where the Indian passport expired before January 1, 2005. In addition, a penalty of $250.00 will be charged for each case of misuse of the Indian passport for travel after 3 months of acquisition of citizenship of another country subject to a maximum penalty of $1250.00.

Interpreting in such technical detail...you should be a lawyer.
Just because there is no penelty to get a SC - does not mean it is legal.

Actually, let's think through this. No one is saying it is legal. No one is encouraging that one should use Indian passport after naturalization.

However, let's think through like a corporate. They constantly evaluate whether they should keep within the law, or break the law and then settle with a fine. It is a balancing act, and the bottom-line is numbers, not propriety or laws.

If you take the same approach here, all the government is saying is that "don't do it, and if you do, we will charge USD 250". Maybe the person does not care about the USD 250. Will it work? Yes, except for the fact that to use the passport the person would need to declare him/herself to be an Indian citizen when presenting the passport. That's what is the bigger issue. If you get caught using an Indian passport entering India when they know you are a USC, I would think the fine will be multi-fold.
