This is the first time I am travelling on H1 , I am leaving tomorrow to India.
My passport has the H1 stamping , are there anyother documents to carry in addition to the passport to facilitate re entry?

thanks

Take all the documents you submitted with the consulate for getting your H-1B visa. Apart from that you may want to take the following as well

0. Recent paystubs
1. Phone numbers of your manager, HR and Immigration attorney
2. Copies of all the documents in your checked-in luggages. In a remote case of losing your carry-on luggage, you have back up copies.

The officer at the Port of Entry may ask for the documents because of the following reason...

According to the back page of the I-797 and this website link http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/tempbenefits/tempworker.htm

A visa does not guarantee entry into the United States. The officer at the Port of Entry has the authroity to deny admission into the country. The officer may request for the documents to make his/her decision.

Have a great time in India

Cheers
