Hi my green card expired last year and i just received a letter stating that the conditions were lifted on it, but i dont have the new card in my possession as yet. I need to travel to my country in a couple days, is there any procedure i need to follow so i dont encounter any problems when i am trying to re-enter the USA? Thank you for your help.

No. You need a valid passport, your expired green card and the extension letter (make several copies of it, to be safe) to re-enter the USA.

Are you done with you biometrics yet?

ps: you could also get the I-551 stamp on your passport, just to be safe.

How do I get a valid passport without a green card? I am a permanent resident and my green card has expired and so has my Vietnam passport. I need to leave the US September 2nd, to study in Ecuador for three months.
