Travelling on advance parole

Hi,
I have an advance parole and EAD...my wife is studying but she has not got an F1 visa...she is on EAD too...we are palnning to visit Japan for a week in March...We do not have any visa as our H1 and H4 has expired...my question is.... can we travel safely to Japan on Advance parole and return to USA...What documents do I need to carry to be able to safely return to US again?
