Travelling after filing for 7th year extension

Hi,
Does anyone know what things to keep in mind when travelling after filing for the 7th year extension?

I just filed for my 7th year extension. Now if I plan to travel later in the year, what things do I need to make sure, so I can return back.

Any inputs/experiences/suggestions please.

I dont have any experience with 7th year extension but, you need to have an unexipred visa, original H1B approval papers, a few recent pay stubs, a copy of your most recent tax filing papers, in addition you may carry your job offer letter, your company's annual report. That should be about all you need - as you may have observed, this is about the same thing I would carry even before 7th year extension.

I have the same plan, I'll take my family and savings with me so that I could feel comfortable, just in case.

Assur, You probably can max out on your credit cards - heck, if you are not to return why worry about credit history, right? :D :cool:

7 th year extension is like any other extension - you need to take same precaution that you would take for any regular extenstion - nothing else - just that this is yearly one - that is all.
 
Stamping

So, Advanced Parole is only required when you have I-140 or I-485 pending..correct?

Also, for Stamping is St. Louis the only place to send paper work? Also, how long does it take for this?

AP is needed when you are on EAD.

You can get stamping from DC - for which you have to send papers to St. Louis. You can get it stamped from American embassy too.

It takes around 12-16 weeks on an average after being entered into the system. Entering in the system is as less as 1-2 days to a month. Check H1b revalidation thread on portal for time and experiences.

What you are saying is that it takes 6 months to get the extension and then another 12-16 weeks to get stamped?

For a one year extension, filed in Feb.'04 the earliest I can travel is like Dec'2004?

That sounds bizzare..?

What sounds bizzare? 6 months to get extension or 12-16 weeks to get stamped? :o File premium processing in case you want to get stamping done in USA.

In case you decide to get it done in American Embassy - beware - they may ask for a fringerprinting sometimes and report takes 9 months to a year to come. Now that is not bizzare for INS.

I believe there is no premium processing for (visa) stamping.

Hi waitingforgc04 ,

I have also got the 7th year extension approval .

I did it thru Premium processing. It costs $1000 + regular visa extension fees. It took 2 weeks for me as there was a query. Usually it gets approved within 10 days with premium.

I have sent my PP for visa stamping to St.Louis. It would take 10 to 12 weeks And the cost is $150 by money order.

One of my friends got his 7th year visa stamp at Mumbai Consulate without any problems.

I am planning to do H4 stamping for my wife at Mumabi after I get my visa stamped here.

Sorry for the goof up. I meant premium processing for H1b. As 001 has already mentioned - there is no premium processing of stamping.

No, why should I call "007", while nature gave me an identity "010". Other is "00", I don't know what is "001" or "100"

I see, "001" means is, who challenged and going for labor and certifications.
 
Guys,
I have already applied for my 7th year extension following the regular process. My lawyer never told me that we can do it under premium processing.

Is it possible to change it to premium processing now?

Yes you can convert H1 regular to H1 premium at any time.
