Guys, I know some of you have traveled to Canada. Please take a single minute to answer these simple questions:

Can I send my application by mail to the Canadian embassy?

I have to send the RTD? I guess

How long it takes to get the visa?

Do I need to send an invitation letter?

I will appreciate your answers. Thanks a lot.

The best way is to call Canadian embassy or consulate in US.

Yes. You need to mail them your RTD.
Don't know how long it will take, but Canadian government employees usually don't do their jobs well. They are spoiled by the system.
You won't need an invitation letter I believe, but not 100% sure.

For the 6th time I went to Canadian consulate 2 days ago and received my visa. Every time they want to interview me and I believe it will be the same case for you. Mainly I have not used a relative name or invitation leter but I did that the last time and this time. I would advise for you get the visa in person since they are probably going to interview you. If you mail it then they will ask you to come down so you dont want to waste your time.

I got the visa through mail several years ago and they just called to check my employment. That was it.

I have travelled to Canada several times and have mailed my application with RTD and asylum approval and bank statement to the embassy in LA. It has less than a month to get them back.

On the application form what did you do with the following questions:

Question 8: Should I check the last box and write Asylee. However, I am not sure which date to put in 'Valid until' since this status does not expire.

2. Qestion 13: Shall I put United States as the country that is 'other then the country of permanent residence'? If yes, then what to put in 'To' date since I still live in the States?
