I would like to know if anybody has traveled from Pakistan to USA via UK on AP after the new transit visa requirement.

I called the Uk embassy twice and was told by one person that I need a visa and the next time I was told that I dont need one.

If you have had any experience regarding this issue please kindly post the details

you don't need a visa if you have valid US or Canadian visa, I have asked 3 different officers and they said no.

Are you in Pakistan now?

I am travelling next week, any experience u want to share because I travelling with my family on AP

2001 Case,

yes I am in pakistan and in most cases you do require a visa. I flew Emirates and British Airways and both the airlines reconfirmed my ticket without askig for a visa. I called the embassy and they said I do need a visa. In my case my AP expires on the 3rd of Dec so I probably will have to buy a seperate one way ticket from another airline that dosent go to England.

If you have a Canadian residency like I do you DO require a visa because only those who got there residency on or after 28th june 2002 are exempted for the visa. Similarly those who got there green card before 21st April 98 Do need a visa.

Hope this helps. My suggestion dont travel via Uk if possible

Do you have to validate your AP in Pakistan before you can board the plane. is that correct. Like a stamp from the consulate in Islamabad since you dont have a visa stamped in the passport.? Did you have to do this. My wife is travelling alone, I would like to know if she has to do something like that

What documents do u have to carry:
- assport
- -94
- AP
- EAD
Do u have to have the origenal I-485 tracking or a copy is OK.

I am a Canadian citizen since May03 but my wife just now got her visitor visa for Canada so we should be ok going though UK on AP.

2001Case,

If u are traveling on a Canadian Passport you will not require a visa for UK. If your wife has a Canadian visa stamped on her passport than she can travel to Canada via UK.

here is one of the email

Hi there,

I am a Pakistani citizen and live here in US. I will be traveling to
Pakistan in Dec on a Travel Document via England. I also have a six month multiple Canadian visit visas. Do I still need to apply for DATV since I only be staying at the airport waiting for my connecting flight onward. I heard that if you have a valid Canadian visa you don't need to apply.

Please reply me as soon as possible
Thanks

Dear Sir,
You are correct. If you hold a valid US or Canadian visa in your passport which will still be valid when you transit then you dont need to get a UK transit Visa.

Also if you go to their website and look for the visa exemptions it clearly explains that.
