Hi folks, a long time user of this site...I recently came across an opportunity and need some advice :

Situation : My company has decided to send me to my home country for a 5 month assignment...my I-485 is currently pending (see details below).

Question 1 : Since this assignment is for a significantly long time, I don't want to continue paying rent on my apartment and was thinking of breaking the lease and renting a storage facility to put all my stuff in there. However, since my I-485 is pending, can I just use my brother's address for the period of 5 months. Please note, that he is in a different State than me. What are my other options and their implications ?

Question 2 : What are some other things that I need to be aware of ?

Thanks to all for responding !!

You can use your brother's address for USCIS correspondence. If the address is changed, sometimes (not always) the application gets transferred to the service center that covers the new address.

If you enter with AP, sometimes POE officer can ask for the reason for long duration of overseas stay. It's better to have some kind of employer's letter/document that talks about your 5 months assignment.
