Trueman,
My husband has had two experiences traveling on Advance Parole. The first was in Dec. 2001 and the second in Dec. 2002.
Both times, he had to go through immigration at JFK International Airport.
After passing the initial immigration checkpoint where he presented his passport, and I-94, he had to go to a separate office where immigration officers stood behind a counter and called up people one at a time.
When he was caled, he presented his AP papers, passport, EAD to the immigration officer behind the counter. THey looked up his case on the computer, entered somethings in to the computer, and gave the advance parole back to him. I don't remember any more specifics but in all it took about 20 minutes.
Now, the first time in Dec. 2001 he traveled on AP, he was asked by the immigration officer in the separate office to present his EAD as well. He did not have it on him and did not think to have it on him. I honestly don't know what would've happened if I wasn't there to speak up for him. I have posted this experience on a previous thread where you can read about it. The second time was less harrowing.
Both times, the AP were good for travel for 1 year.
Good luck
Kiska
