Traveling during green card application

Hi,

I had a question regarding traveling overseas when a green card application has been submitted.

The situation is; I'm currently an F-1 student and I was married to my wife in Philadelphia this January. I am now in the process of collating all the paper work required for the green card application, which I was going to submit by the end of this month.

The problem is; this coming December my wife and I are traveling to India to have our official Indian wedding ceremony... which I obviously have to attend:) Will I be allowed to travel to India if my green card application is still being processed. I have read about the advanced parole application, but this seems risky to rely on. I don't want to be restricted from traveling to India

any advice would be most welcome

thank you

Advanced parole is the safest... you should submit AP with 485. You'll get AP within 3 months.

thanks for your reply,

I suppose my question is how easy is it to get the the AP form for a wedding ceremony? I don't want to go ahead with the green card application and then have to void it since the USCIS wouldn't give me the AP form to travel to India.

I either apply for a green card and run the risk of voiding it, or wait till after India and then apply.....

advice????

Contrary to popular belief, an applicant does not need a life/death emegency to apply for AP. I was issued an AP so that I may visit Australia and New Zealand for my honeymoon!!!

I suppose my question is how easy is it to get the the AP form for a wedding ceremony?
