Traveled OOC before receiving Green card.

Hi,

My dad traveled out of country before receiving his green card, and also did not get a travel permit. It's been a year now, and we also haven't received the green card in the mail yet.

We called the National CSC to check on the GC since it had been such a long time, and the agent said he would send a message to the processing center about it.
Soon thereafter we received a letter from the center saying "welcome to the US" and also that GC should be there within 30 days. However since then, it's been 2 months and haven't received anything yet. And since then the toll free number for the NCSC has been having problems with telling the status and asks to call back. Wish I could speak to the agents somehow.

Is there anything we can do, like go to a local office and find the status? If we receive the GC, can we mail it to him so he can come back? Is there any other way for him to get back?

Thanks.

Call them, you should received your dad GC by now.

yes you can mail it to him but make sure it doesn't get lost in the mail. or at least make a copy. Use fedex, it's expensive but worth it.

thanks Mike,

The customer service center's automated status line is not working, it keeps on saying to call back.
Is there a way to bypass the menus and talk to a rep? I remember when last time I was able to check the status, I was able to drill further down and talk to a representative. This time it just says to call back.
