I am an exchange student and I want to travel around USA on my brakes, but because of my exchange organization rules I cannot do it. I would like to know if my visa is related to my exchange organization. If i quit my exchange organization but keeping studying in another school would i be out of status?
 
Are you on J-1 visa? Where do you want to travel? If you want to travel just in the U.S. you should be able to do so without a problem. Your agency shouldn't have an issue with this. If you want to travel out of the country you will need to obtain a signature on your DS-2019 for travel.

well, the issue about traveling within the usa is one of the organization's policy, and i signed a contract accepting it before coming here. So, if i want to travel i need to quit the program anyway. I have a J1 visa, and I would like to know if it would be cancelled if I quit the program and go live with another person in another city, but still studying.
