Travel with Re Entry Permit to Italy

Normally I'd call the country's embassy, but as many of you know most embassies have poor information for us with 'special' documents.

I have been reading the threads, however, they only reference RTD situations.

I can't really find any information regarding traveling to Italy with RP.

Do they accept this document?

Any information anyone can provide that would be great!
 
RP is a US document and is used to reenter US, I don't think Italy will allow entry on a RP, have you asked the Italian embassy in the US if they will issue a Schengen or a Italy entry visa on a RP? you will get your answer right away on that phone call.
 
Scully... I entered Italy on a RP in April of 2009.... not a problem whathsoever. They will definitely issue you a Schengen visa on a RP, provided you have all the requisite forms filled and documents to share, including proof of return journey, hotel stay, funds and proof of travel insurance.
